biography of late chief sasere emmanuel akinbolani akinkugbe
Born at 5 Oge Street, Ondo around 1888 into the Royal Akinkugbe family. The father is Chief Ruwaji Akinkugbe and the mother is Madam Fabambi Efun Akinkugbe. Chief Ruwaji Akinkugbe died in July, 1908 and Madam Fabambi Efun Akinkugbe died in 1910.
As a youth, Baba (as we fondly call him) was helping his Dad in the farm. At the same time he was attending a private lesson until he attained standard five stage. In 1909, he started learning carpentry under Mr Williams Thompson who was a skilled carpenter and organ repairer in Lagos. Fully qualified, Baba returned to Ondo in 1913. Baba was a known carpenter of his time and all the furniture, including the sculpture at Idimoge and Odotu were made by him. He did his job from 1913 to 1920.
Baba started trading in 1920. In 1926, he started transportation business. He was a great transportation of his time. He also went inti full LOGGING business.
At his early years, he took interest in the new religion (Christianity) of that time and was christened by Bishop Phillips in 1908. He was confirmed in the Church in 1914. Baba got married to Late Miss Victoria Olufunmilayo, Akinkugbe in 1916. He spent most of his time actively in the Church where he was in turn People’s Warden, Pastor’s Warden and in the early thirties as a member of Ondo District Church Councell in the then Diocese of Lagos. He lived with his relative, Late Chief Logbosere Akinfolarin at Odotu during his youthful days.
In 1933, he opened his new house at No 5, Oge Street. The land which was given to him by Fayilade family in the presence of elder family members like:
- Late Chief Logbosere Akinfolarin -1 bott of Garden
- Late Chief Sara Oladapo Akinkugbe – 1 bott of Garden
- Late Chief Ruwaji Ikusika – 1 bott of Garden
- Late Chief Linke Akinogun – 1 bott of Garden
- Late Chief Oyegewa A.A.Akinkugbe – 2 bott of Garden
The foundation of the house was laid on Saturday the 11th day of October, 1930. The official opening of the house was on the 18th day of December, 1933 by His Royal Highness Oba Arojojoye, the Chiefs and Late Bishop Akinyele, and other important personalities. The house earned him the nickname ONIPETESI META or THE LION HOUSE. The design and finishing of the house was far ahead of it’s time. After the formal opening of the house, the new business expanded, there was product buying, more transports and a general goods store and agencies with U.A.C. Limited.
FAYILADE & FAMILY ASSOCIATION
In 1977, 9th February 1977 precisely, Late Chief Kolawole Akinto who was then the P.R.O. of teh association was commissioned to research and look into the origin of IGBOLUWA. His findings were as follows:
A barren woman names OLUKOLU of Tapa origin migrated to Ile-Oluji and became one of the then ruling monarch wives. She gave birth to a female child whom she named LADELUKA
Ladeluka had nine children, unfortunately two of teh nine died young. The surviving ones were Fayilade, Agaga, Akinmora, Fatoye, Fasina and Fayemohun.
Fayilade, the first born of Ladeluka and a princess of Ile-Oluji dynasty migrated to Ondo with many slaves. She was given a residential area names Oge St, Ondo and farming land at Igboluwa. After settling down in Ondo, she then invited all her siblings, other children from Ladeluka to Igboluwa which now become the communal land of Ladeluka descendants.
Igboluwa consists of three (3) principal villages:
1. Equella
2. Epaluwa
3. Ugboluwa
Igboluwa is situated at Ondo Laje road, after Mother and Child Hospital, Lipakala in the Ondo West Local Government. It is bounded as follows:
On the right by Obun Oporoporo (A local market at Ondo Laje Road)
On the left by Ondo Laje Village Road
On the North by Lominone family Land
On the South by the Luwa River
Fayilade and Family Association is the umbrella management, administrator, supervisory agent and bonafide owner of the IGBOLUWA COMMUNUAL LAND. It had gone through changing of names before arriving at the present name as related by historic research. The monthly meeting of the Association holds at the house of the President at 2:00pm every last Sunday of the month. Both present and past presidents of the Association maintain that there shall not be planting of permanent crops , sales of land and that no individual shall claim that any portionof this family land belong to him or her or his/her posterity.

lineage of Late madam lanuuade
Late Madam Lanuuade is the first born of Late Yeye Fayilade. She got married to Late Pa Akinfolarin who was one of the early moslems in Ondo City. Late Madam Lanuuade’s lineage produced many children. One of teh children is Late Chief Logbosere of Ondo by the Osemawe on the 3rd of February, 1929. This very day witnessed joyful birth of Orofessor Ajibayo Akinkugbe. Late Chief Logbosere Seidu Akinfolarin was teh head of the Akinfolarin and Akinkugbe families who have a common heritage in a matriarch – Yeye Fayilade. Late Chief Logbosere Seidu Akinfolarin was a prosperous trader in Ondo and also a cocoa and kolanut farmer in some villages around Ondo city. He founded Lokuta village, Late Chief Logbosere Seidu Akinfolarin had many wives and many children and grand children.
The first son of Late Chief Logbosere Seidu Akinfolarin is Late Pa Joseph Adeola Akinfolarin (aka Bami Teacher) who attended Saint Andrew’s Teacher’s Training School where he passed out from. Late Chief Yegewa Jimoh Akinfolarin was a produce buyer of cocoa and palm kernel. Both Bami Teacher and Bami Jimoh are from the same mother. The first daughter is from another wife, she is Late Madam Bola Oyeneyin. Her first son is Late Pa Adam Oyeneyin. Another son of Late Chief Logbosere Seidu Akinfolarin is Pa Adewoye Akinfoalrin (Still alive) , Just to mention a few.
Late Chief Ruwaji Akinkugbe being the other lineage and the third born of Late Yeye Fayilade married many wives with many prominent children and grand children, Late Chief Sara Kadiri Oladapo Akinkugbe is the first son of Late Chief Ruwaji Akinkugbe. He was extremely wealthy because he was an exporter of timber in the early 20th century in Agbabu and Ore in Ondo State.
Late Chief Sara Oladapo Akinkugbe; Late Chief Yegewa Albert Akinmoju Akinkugbe; Late Chief D.A. Akinkugbe (a drugist), and Late Chief Odofin Akinbobola Akinkugbe is the father of Chief Oludolapo Akinkugbe and Professor Oladipupo Akinkugbe.
Late Chief Lisa S. A Oladapo (Akinkugbe) and Late Chief P.A. Oladapo (Akinkugbe) are from the same mother, just to mention two. Late Justice Olajompo Akinkugbe and Late Madam Ebeloku Akinkugbe Akinyele are also from teh same mother. The late Madam Lijifesola, the High Chief Lisa Lobun of Ondo then, brought up her great grandson – Late Pa Gilbert Iranola Akinyele.
Late Madam Efun Fabambi was one of the wives of Late Chief Ruwaji Akinkugbe . She was the mother of Late Pa Simeon Akindolie Akinkugbe. Late High Chief Abigail Olaleye Akinsira, the Lisa Lobun of Ondo and her last born was Late Chief Sasere Emmanuel Akinbolani Akinkugbe.
Late Pa Simeon Akindolie Akinkugbe lived in Lokuta village with his wives and Children. Some of the children are Late Pa Akintayo Akinkugbe (Baba Kokoo), Late Engineer Josiah Akinyemi Akinkugbe, Madam Ose Akingu, Madam Omorinsola and Mr Richard Kokumo Akinkugbe just to mention few. Late High Chief Lisa Lobu Abigail Olayeye Akinsira is the mother of late Pa Olapade Akinsira, Late Pa Raphael Akinyosoye , Late Chief Mrs Fawehinmi (Mama Jerusalem) just to mention few. Late High Chief Sasere Emmanuel Akinbolani Akinkugbe is the last born of late Madam Efun Fabambi Akinkugbe.
Another wife of Late Chief Ruwaji Akinkugbe is the Late Madam Lametan Akinkugbe who had three children. The children are late Pa Emmanuel Akinmusere Akinkugbe , father of Mr Olajide Akinkugbe ; Late Pa Akinkuotu Akinkugbe (aka Baba Ebute Meta) and Late Pa Joseph Omoseibi Akinkugbe who is teh last born of Late Chief Ruwaji Akinkugbe. Late Pa Joseph Omoseibi Akinkugbe is the father of Mr Afolabi Abel Akinkugbe , Engineer Femi Akinkugbe and Ms Wuralola Akinkugbe.
